The Phoneflash produces a bright flashing light that makes you aware that the telephone is ringing in situations when you cannot, or do not want to, hear it ring. As well as being useful at home it can also be helpful in places such as noisy workshops, recording studios, libraries etc.
The Phoneflash is a mains powered light that plugs directly into a BT type telephone socket and flashes whilst the telephone is ringing. Because it detects the ringing from the telephone line you do not need to have the telephone in the same socket. If you wish to use the same socket for both your telephone and the Phoneflash we provide an adaptor which converts your single socket into two sockets.
The Phoneflash can be wall mounted if required.
If you choose this system you will receive:
- A Phoneflash unit fitted with a 2 metre mains lead and a 3 metre telephone lead
- A double telephone adaptor to enable you to plug your telephone and the Phoneflash into the same telephone socket
- A wall mounting bracket
- Operating instructions
- •Power Supply: 230 V ~ 50Hz 20VA Max.
•Connections: Telephone line connection via BT Plug Type 431A and 3m lead.
Mains supply connection via 2m lead.
•Light unit: Xenon linear Fast Flash Tube.
•Ringer Equivalence No: REN 0.5
Product conforms to the provisions of the following
European Union Directives and is designed for use in the
European Union:
1999/5 Radio & Telecommunications Terminal
Equipment Directive
- Ringer Equivalence Number
There is no limit to the number of telephone sockets you can have on one telephone line, but the number of telephones that can be connected at the same time is limited by their Ringer Equivalence Number (REN). All approved telephone equipment which plugs into the telephone line should have an REN indicated on it.
- The phoneflash has an REN of 0.5. The total of the REN
added together should not be more than 4 otherwise the phoneflash or other equipment might not flash or ring properly. Most equipment has a REN of 1 so 4 pieces of telephone equipment e.g. 2 telephones, 1 phoneflash
and an answerphone (all with a REN of 1) would be the most that could be connected at once.
